If I take the upper end of my front brake line off will I have to bleed the brake?

i'm pretty sure if you just unbolt the top bolt, it'll bleed itself..........all over your floor

just take the whole brake lever off,

If you take it off fully - yes. If you just undo it <slightly> maybe to move it around, you <might> be able to get away with it.

To be on the safe side...any time you open the brake system (it's a closed system), you should bleed them.  This means everytime you break torque on the brake line bolts too...ideally, you'd be using new washers every time too...

Don't worry though, bleeding GS brakes is easy.

Yep, single disc front brakes are a peach.

good judgement trumps good skills every time.

I took the top of the brake line off and rerouted it. Hardly any fluid came out. The brake was a little spungy but after I rode for a while it is just fine.
guess they are easy to bleed.

Um, riding a bike around for a bit isn't really a great method for bleeding brakes.  It may get some bubbles out, but spend 50 cents on a bit of tubing, $2.00 on a bottle of new DOT4, and do it the right way.  I found it far easier than bleeding the brakes on my van.  And the brakes feel much nicer afterward.  If you need help or have questions, I'd be happy to try and answer them.
