Anyone going to Thunder in the Valley?

This weekend is the Thunder in the Valley motorcycle rally in Johnstown, PA.  Apparently they get about 80,000 riders in for the weekend.  That's not far from me, so I'm hoping to head up on Sunday for a little while.  That is, if I can get my kitchen painted.  I have to get that done first.  And I have to get rid of the kids for a few hours.  Then I have to check with the wife.

It's not looking good for me, is it?  

Anyway, if you're going to be there, look for me.  I'll be the one on the GS500.

I use to live in Reno NV and they an event "Street Vibrations". Nothing but Harleys.  They had a race against time around cones in a parking lot. I had just bought an old 750 Vulcan and smoked them. The event lasted 4 days, I rode my bike everywhere and got hastled a lot. I brought a lot onto myself because I loved to try and get them to race. They don't like to see that  thier bikes are about image and show, and I just had to put it in their face.
If it is a thunder event they are talking about noise, and our little bikes are more about lightening.

my brother is there this weekend on his intruder 1400 and is coming back tomorrow a married man.

i wouldn't mind goingl, but i teach all day saturdays so that kinda kills it for me, plus a 3 year old in a cast.  

speaking of  this event, my neighbor is a big cruiser guy who rides a vulcan, but wants it to be a harley. He asked me if I was gonna go this week and i told him that i taught on saturday and he started giving me shaZam! about being a pu**y.      I told him flat out that i work 6 days a week and on sundays i wanna spend as much time with my family as possible.    He kinda pissed me off with the way he was talking, trying to give me shaZam! about not being a real biker.  If being a real biker means ignoring my family to go hangout out with 80,000 drunks then I guess I am a pu**y :nana:

oooh, i completely forgot about that, i forget what time i work on sunday, i'd consider riding down, but hmm....no, i forgot i've gotta try and check my valves, that's needed done for a few thousand miles now, and i'm not letting myself go on any joy rides until it gets done, just work, and then back home

I checked out the scheduled events, and there were some rides that were apparently for sport bikes, so there is some catering to those of us who don't ride cruisers.

I might be riding up to Carlisle late July.  Is that anywhere in your vicinity?

It's about a hundred miles from me.  That's a bit far for me to ride, but that's not to say I couldn't be talked into it.  Maybe some of the State College riders would be willing to meet me at Water Street and take Rt22 to Rt74 into Carlisle.  Rt74 used to be a real treat.  It winds up over a couple of mountain ranges.  I used to slide my Celica through a few curves on that road, but that was over ten years ago.  I'm not sure what it looks like now, but it was nice back then.  Real nice.

yeah my brother got married there on friday.  During the middle of a big concert. Apparently they made the local Johnstown news and papers.

When I got there Sunday morning there were a couple of people standing next to me talking about it.  I was like, hey, I know that guy's brother.  Sort of.  Tell him congratulations.

The rally was awesome .. Ive been to it every year. This was my first w/ a bike.. Sweet.. over 165,000 Bikers is the final est. total. Tons of demo rides.. beer, concerts. food, and other
