1st:
Slowing to a stop on a slope down to the left with the wheel turned slightly to the left and using a little to much front brake will cause the bike to fall to the left.

2nd:
The gs500 is harder to pick up from its side than I thought, especially when it is on the left side laying on the above mentioned slope.

No damage except for the stupid foil suzuki on the left engine.  A little embarassed.  Just as I was starting to pick it up, three motorcycles stoped to check on me.   Was nice of them but still embarassing.

Well it took me a month and a half and 1500 miles before i finally dropped the thing.  Hopefully it will be my last.

everyone drops their bike at one time or another.  I dropped my GSXR with only like 500 miles on it.  I almost cried.

Yeah, I dropped my cbr with less than 200 miles on it, and that after riding the gs for 9,000 miles...good thing the dealer was going to replace all the fairings under warranty anyway, whew! Now looks good as new again...

I have been riding bikes for 40 years. The first day I got my gs I dropped it then the second day I did it again. Havent done it since. It really isn't meant to be a dirt bike????
I found out what the stupid things that stick out from the handlebars are for.

I droped two bikes in one week.

1.  Moving my gf's bike. I just gave it too her, just had to move it into a less inconvinient spot......, on dirt, no damage.

2.  After riding on my GS500 for about 3hrs to get home, I was parking it at Starbucks to meet with some friends.  I tried to cushion the fall, but the saddlebag did the real work.  Just had to adjust the mirror once I got it upright.

Hey,...............
If you can walk/stagger away, it cannot be all bad.

i used to drop my 250 constantly, i'd say atleast once or twice month, when i got my triumph i got a key chain with a clip on it, so this way, i could clip my key on it when i put the lock on the front wheel, therefore forcing me to see the lock key, and remember to take the lock off before i try to ride away, i've dropped my new bike 3 times now, once was bungie cording something while the bike was sitting on a slight right slope, and me pulling the bungie cord was just enough to tip it over, 2nd was me trying to put it up on the rear stand, and the block i put under the side stnad was just the tiniest bit too tall, that it sat just long enough for me to walk aroudn the back, and then it fell over about half a centimeter from my dads harley :o   and the last time i forgot to take the lock off the brake disk again, that was around 18k miles, so yeah, it still happens, but oh well, i've got frame sliders on it, so i just fell over and layed on the ground laughing, as opposed to the kid i work with that has a brand new zx6r, most anal kid i know, he's dropped the bike twice, and blown over $2k buying new plastics and parts to make it look brand new again, finallyafter about 8 months i noticed he spent $75 on some frame sliders, smart kid......

SmoothDave

Yep, dropped twice here.   :guns:

Same here. Twice in 1 weekend. I learnt be careful when parking on a slant, and dont try and put bike on centrestand when you are wedged against a fence. Bike will fall over, you will fall on bike. Flatmate will laugh.

yamahonkawazuki

yup, first day i had my (former) frankenbike, was dropped twice, once at less than 5mph, and 1 at standstill, in dirt. (same day)

i dropped mine about 2 weeks ago in the garage,

Had just spent the whole evening rebuilding the front brakes and putting the drag bars back on.  had just screwed my third eye bar end mirror onto the throttle side and mad the curcial error of taking the bike off the center stand and trying ot back it out of the garage by standing on one side of it.

always straddle the bike when walking it if at all possible.  I know this rule and i try to follow it, but it was late and i wanted to take the bike out real quick.  Instead it wound up tangled up on my garage floor with a stroller and two orange beach chairs and a broken bar end mirror.

After I kicked the hell out of the offending beach chairs I picked the bike up and went for a ride.

Wow, I don't feel so bad anymore.

I've also been riding for a lot of years.

I dropped my GS in the shed against the door jam and dented the tank.  I hadn't even got it on the road yet.  Pissed me off.

Second time I was being followed by my wife and kids in the car.  We stopped at the major light by my house.  Three lanes of packed Saturday afternoon traffic.  I turned around to blow my wife and kids a kiss and the damn thing just went over in slow motion.  The kids are screeming in the car my wife thought I was pissed and threw the bike down on purpose and was comeing back to yell at her.

All I could do was pick up the bike while at least 10 or so people sat in there cares and watched.  My first attempt didn't make it.  My wife startes to get out of the car to help me.  NOW I'm yelling at her - "Get back in the car."  I give it one more hork, up she comes I jump on adjust the mirror as the car in front is pulling away through the green light and I ride off as if nothing happened.

WOW, talk about feeling like an IDIOT...

Hah! I just realized that the FOUR times I dropped my bike it was in all four different directions: dropped it to the left, dropped it to the right, dropped sorta backwards during a wheelie and forwards during a botched endo. All in a span of two months:mrgreen:
 Just fixed my ride, so no more stunts for me. at least not this year.

I bought my bike pre-dropped... with a nice curly-q brake lever on one side, a cracked instrument cover and scarred engine case on the other, so If I ever do drop it, I won't feel too bad.... been 2,000 miles so far (in 1.5 months) without one... keeping my fingers crossed
