OK I need to rebuild the front end rear of the 1999 project GS500

I can get a 1988 GSXR front end complete with 6 pot calipers. It has even been setup for the GS frame already.

My main concern is the rear end. I have a 1999 GSXR600 swingarm, 6" rim and all. Has anybody tried to stuff a beefier swingarm and rim in the frame ?? If this is a bad idea what are the options for wider rear rims.

This is my little project. http://home.cogeco.ca/~gvanhumbeck/99gsfront.jpg

I am in the process of installing a RGV swingarm. It is narrower at the pivot point but wider at the axle. Spacers will be made to use stock GS wheels. I have too many wheels to switch to a different wider wheel. Even with a 555 I do not see much need for more rubber. Once again I am having bushings made to fit the axle. Which I will need to make a longer axle as well.

First question is, will it fit inside the GS frame? The pivot bolt should be smaller so bushings would have to be made. The only area of concern I would have with putting a wider wheel on is the alignment of the chain. It may get pushed too far to the left and wear quicker.
Common sense in not very common.

You'll never get a 99' gsxr rear end on the bike

ACE

personally i would just go with the aluiziomotos.com fairings, it looks almost identical to a 2001 gixxer 600. check it out.

OK 1999 GSXR bit on the rear are a to hard complicated idea.

SO what is the best to try to match up the front GSXR rubber ??

I want the same or better handling but good looks.

4" or 4.5" rear wheel with spacers in the stock swingarm. I've got a 160 on a 4" rim now. Chain rubs a tiny bit. When this tire wears out I'll get a 150 and be good to go. I've got a '99 GSXR front end on the bike with a 120 tire.

I've got a 4.5" bandit 600 rim in the stock swing-arm. The chain doesn't rub the wheel and I have a 155 slick on it. I think if the chain is rubbing on a 4" rim with a 160, then your wheel isn't centered in the swing-arm

OK I have a 4.5 rear rims with bits and a new tire. Wants $150 obo CDN

Now I need to work out the spacers.

I also have a company to powder coat the frame and  swingarm. Going semi Gloss black.
