Hey ES,

That is exactly what I have on mine and we paid 170something for it.  So that is a great price.  I took the red F1 sticker off of it though because my bike is purple and it wouldn't have matched.  If you remove it, do it before you ever start the bike up or it will cook on.

don't forget to email my guy about the suspensions!!

Yosh can off ebay... $80-100 shipped, and slip the thing on at a muffler shop. Much better quality than a Cobra. Used or not...
Cool.

I have the f1s... I like the sound.  Nice melow note, not too loud.  More throaty than stock.

nope.  Mines stock and runs fine.  Runs so good that I am reluctant to change anything in the carbs or airbox or ignition.

I love the way mine sounds.  Like I said in a previous thread, I crank her up and all the snapper mowers in the neighborhood quiver!!

It' perfect for the GS

Rank:

#1. Yosh full system (NLA and can be expensive used)

#2. V&H full system

#3. Cobra slip on

Sorry for this basic question, I've been reading a few threads regarding exhaust but I don't understand what exactly is a slip on? :dunno:
As far as I can tell my 92 GS exhaust comes as one piece with some sort of stainless steel cover over the muffler.
What exactly is a slip on, what is its function and how does one install it?

The Buddha

We slice that whole thnig off after the head pipe at the right spot... depending on the slip on you have, and fit a free flowing slip on can... usually a can off a sport bike from aftermarket. Cobra F1 S/R is made for a GS also. Louder, more power and some better start ups etc... however you might have to mess a little wiht the carbs.

BTW GhettoRigged... I like the quality of a Yosh can, my next choices are D&D, or muzzy. Super trapp, kerker are worse than V&H, and the V&H is about the middle of the lot. Like micron and two brothers as well. A yosh can is much heavier duty than all of the rest.

Not with the cobra.  I figure you do with the Yosh full system or the V&H full system.  (because they're full systems)

do you notice much difference in performance?

The Buddha

Makes more noise... so you think it performs better
OK OK that was a bit harsh... It does spin up faster under load... so it does perform better. But any slip on will be the same or similar.
Cool.

Srinath is right, very little if any added performance.  I'd say none.  Its just for sound.

I guess its just for sound or if your original can is so scratched up or you screwed up on a mod

Okay..sorry guys, i'm still figuring out what i need to do for mods (noob)....if we get a F1 slip on (or ANY slip on) exhaust, we don't need to rejet? Rejets are required when changing air box/filter and/or adding a full exhaust? How would you know if you needed to rejet in the first place after adding the slip on exhaust?
