After notocing that the bars on my 01 GS500 were slightly bent from previous owner, I installed a set of Suburban Machine Type 2 bars.

Thanks to everyone for all the info posted on these bars, & to Pablo for the excellent instructions on your site.  The bike looks great & the feel is better too.

those bars made such a difference in the handling of the bike, second only to the fork springs IMO...especially in the canyons...

They work better with rearsets though. I felt like I was riding with my feet too far forward after installing them. Let me know how yours feels. I know chimivee felt the same and he installed cbr600 rearsets (like I bought but never installed-wanna buy them?).

I totally have to agree.  I put on CFM Woodcraft rearsets after having my SM bars on for a while, and the difference was unbelivable.  The rearsets completed the better riding position offered by the bars.
