Here is a link to some pictures and a short video from a Grattan track day with my son on his pretty stock GS, and me on my not so stock GS.

The albums are at the bottom of the page, and are labled Grattan video, and Grattan track day respectively.

In the video, I am following him.

I am running a 120/70 super soft Metzler Rennsport in the front, and a 150/60 soft Metzler Rennsport in the rear.

My son is running Bridgestone BT090 110/70 front, 140/70 rear on stock rims.

you had the CB shaft removed on your engine, did you have it rebalenced?  stock bore? cams? what was the Vibs like? tolerable for street use?
Accelerate like your being chased, Corner like you mean it, Brake as if you life depends on it.

Crank was rebalanced by Falicon.  Had it originally with stock bore and cams.  Now has 555 kit with megacycle cams. With both set ups it vibes a bit at low revs, but not so bad. Hardly notice the difference from stock at idle to 4,000 rpm.  It's sweet spot is 7000-9000 rpm. It starts to vibe pretty bad at around 9500 rpm, and it gets really nasty above 10,000 rpm.  Like vibrate any part off that is not safety wired or locktited.  Like hurt your feet through the (aluminum) pegs. Had the alternator rotor removed, and the  with combination of no counterbalance shaft, it revs way quicker.

My son has ridden it, and he says he is going to pull the counterbalance shaft out of his bike this winter.  His bike sees track and street duty.  It also has 23,000 miles, and we figure it is about to eat the counterbalancer bearings.

Hope this helps.

Hi-T

Can you give more info on the 555 Kit and cams (like what's included, what's involved and an idea on price).  I'm giving serious thought on rebuilding the top end this winter  with the hopes of squeezing more juice out of the bike.

Thanks

They are Wiseco pistons, that are not made anymore.  I bought the kit last year, brand new, with the cylinders bored to fit the pistons, honed, rings cut and fitted, pistons, megacycle cams and springs, for $350.  Found them on a WERA board.  The cams you can still get from megacycle, but the high lift varieties will not work with stock pistons.

You can put a intake cam in the exhaust side, and you will get more lift, but you will lost your tach drive.  The street cam from magacycle, increases the exhaust lift a bit, and the intake hardly at all, maybe you could buy just the exhaust cam from them.

Hope this helps,
Paul
