Getting Close

So heres the deal....   A little over a month ago I signed up for a First Time Riders Course.  Boy are those hard to get into in the summer time.  Then about 3 weeks ago I bought an Orange 98 GS500E.  So for the last 3 weeks I have been going out of my mind, everyday i get home from work (summer construction job, which i got to buy a bike) stare at my bike sitting in the garage, sometimes start it up....  Anyways this weekend is my class.  I will finally be able to ride my motorcycle, my very own motorcycle when I want, where I want, to see whomever I want.  Sorry about this pointless post, i'm just very very excited.  I guess what spurred this excitement is the fact that my gear came in today.   Alright this rant has gone on long enough.

Ratboy, welcome to the fold. Please don't get over-anxious while riding. We'd like you to be around for years to come. I know what you mean about just starting it up tho'...I do the same to mine 'cause I can very rarely go for a ride. But hey, dontcha just love that little GS500 and this forum? I do.

Woohoo! Another orange one!  Good luck with your MSF this weekend, then start getting lots real miles under your belt.  Just don't push it too hard, it takes some time to get all the skills

I know how you feel. I bought my bike about a month before my MSF class and only rode it once around the block before then (I just couldn't help myself. I live in an area that's pretty free of traffic, though). I could see it from the kitchen window, and it would be taunting me. I made it though, and I'm glad to hear that you did, too.

The road part of the MSF is actually pretty fun.  The classroom part is educational, but hard to get through when you know what two wheeled fun awaits you...

I was lucky enough to get into the MSF here in Cincy. I have to wait until October but I have my temps so I can still ride during daylight hours.
Thank god I dont have to sit in my garage staring at my bike, I would have gone nuts

I thought I'd throw my 2cents in.  I got into an MSF course via a cancellation.  Otherwise it would've been September!  Anyway, someone's loss was my gain.  The course was great.  I was really "timid" going into the riding part.  I've been racing road bikes (bicycles) for a while, but it's different when you can go 0-60 in like 4 seconds or whatever.  The hardest part of the course was the "U-turns", due to the counter-balancing.  I found that to be so counter-intuitive.  Anyway, good experience, and I'd recommend it to anyone.
