J-Lo

You know what I like about this site?  It's how something as silly as 'look at my new fenders', can turn into a pissing contest over who's country is better.   :) In my opinion, Canada is great....I live here, I will always live here, and I would encourage other people to live here.  There are HUNDREDS of reasons to live here, and HUNDREDS of reasons to thank Canada/Canadians.  HOWEVER, we aren't alone here [in the world I mean], and we certainly didn't create the world.  I like the US....I've been there TONS of times, and I will continue to go again.  Your beer sucks, and I can't understand how you guys drink it...but whatever...I'll just bring my own.
You Yankee's have to admit though, that in comparison to OUR country, YOURS is just a bit much.  You have more murders in say, Washington in one year, then we have in like our whole country in like 5 years.    :guns:   Does this make us better?   :dunno: Maybe.  It makes us safer....I guess.  Downtown Toronto at 4AM can be a scary place too...it's all about what you are comfortable with, right?  So what if you guys can LEGALLY drink beer, while driving, and holding a shotgun [in Texas anyway].  Big deal eh?  That doesn't scare me.  Going outside when it's -50C scares me.  So what if you guys wave the American flag 365 days a year...patriotism is wicked, and I love the 'America's #1' mentality.  A country needs that.  And for a lot of stuff it's true anyway.  We only just got Krispy Kreme [sp.?] donuts up here...how behind the times is that?  We don't even have Sonic, or Cracker Barrel....or Chili's... MMMM....baby back ribs...

I always get a kick out of what most Americans think of US people UP here.  We don't ALL say EH all the time, and we don't all play hockey, drink Tim Horton's coffee, and wear toques, and drink beer.  Sure, we do A LOT of that.....so what?  In our spare time, we also let almost anyone into our country....we're just good people I guess.  :)  And what the hell is abuut?  I say about....how do YOU say it?  :P

Anyways, I've managed to even confuse my own self about what my exact point is, but I think it's just this:  No matter where you live, or what you RIDE, or who you voted for, or what your beliefs are, or what your religion is, or what kind of stains you have in your underwear, or how many cows you've humped.  We all have ONE thing in common.  We all LOVE motorcycles, and no matter how much you all bicker about stupid crap like who's country is better...we'll all be FOREVER bound by the SWEET, HONORABLE, and EXCLUSIVE brotherhood [and sisterhood for you ladies out there] that is MOTORCYCLING.  And for that, I love you all.   :thumb:

P.S.  Wars are created by people REFUSING to see/respect other peoples VIEWS/BELIEFS.  I can say what I want...it's my right.  You can say what you want...it's your right.  It's also my/your right to be WRONG, and to look like a jackass for being/refusing to admiit being wrong.  I'm sure you've all heard that little saying about what happens when you ASSuME stuff....   :bs:

P.P.S. Can I get a hug? I want to feel the love in here again.

P.P.P.S.  I miss you guys.  Can you make a section for guys that USED to own a GS?

Hey man J-lo... Love that point of view... and freaking hell I love Tim Horton's and even better Timothy's ... BTW That we do not get here, and we cannot run down to the 2 bit convenience store and buy it like we can with canadian beer... and bloody hell its tough... I have Timothy's withdrawl symptoms now just from you triggering that memory ... BTW About letting in anyone into the country... OK I can understand it for people... but did you have to let stoopid ass corporations like Starbucks in... BTW love Canadian tire as well... Funky name for a really good store, Starbucks is going to kill the Timothy's/Tim hortons just like it killed the mom and pop operations... Also funny is the point that It took so long to get to this point... When we start arguing we pretty much forget the important stuff... and people start defending everything... Lots of shaZam! about the US sucks ... BTW Beer... I like the watery beers more than the so called richer beer. I'd say only the stuff that isn't available in the other places widely can be said as salient points... otherwise... there'd be total chaos in teh argument... Bloody hell I think I should start a Timothy's franchaise in my front yard... and show people what good coffee tastes like.
Cool.

... so why are Indians not killing each other in proportion being the most tightly populated place in the world... I dunno ... Cool.
Srinath.

one word, culture.

america has a culture of violence and weapons and unfortunately they have been exporting it.

Maybe yes on the culture thing, there is also the fact that India did have some decent leaders that said a bunch of stuff (Gandhi, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Vivekananda and others) that has come to be now accepted as universal truth... yea yea non violence etc... and since they never used it for for personal gain... and they followed it... its now universal, and fairly recent in people's memory... so they tend to grow up that way... but see that is the exact opposite of what is in the US and to a larger extent in Canada... There is very little diversity in India... everyone is that way... Canada and US are waaay too diverse with canada being more diverse than the US...
However there is also one other side that applies to India... If there was a choice between a thief and a cop, I'd take sides with the theif... cops are far worse... atleast in the India I know. Crime statistics are totally murky because I have seen situations where after a robbery in the house if you called the cops, the cops show up and say you'd have to buy us drinks for looking at your crime scene ... which is $$$ in India... Call a fire station when the house is on fire and the fire engines show up and demand money ... like lots of money for spraying the fire down ... so house breakin's and robberies and general crimes all go un reported... cos the damn cops are worse. Of course the crime rate is very very low, if no one will report them. Crime ... especially property and minor personal crime... like conk you and the head and take your wallet, or threaten women and take their jewellry ... is very very common in India ... It even has a name..."Chain Snatching" ... not somehitng a GS chain does when it gets old...
Anyway... crime/violence exported from US... I doubt it... What US is exporting especially of late is huge disparities in income distribution... There is a glaring difference now, the India I grew up in was much better. What's worse the inflation rates are staggering... My Grandpa after having lived to 92 and worked nearly to 80 as an engineer no less, is now barely getting by... The first job I had in 1992 in India ... I made more money than he did in 6 months and I could buy far less ... Just sky rocketing costs and people being squeezed out of the market on everyhting ...
Cool.
