i FINALLY de-winterized my bike!
its been in my friends garage since december and ive been working and stuff so i never actually got a chance to winterize it. now that he sold the house i was kind of forced to work on it. i spent a whole week (about an hour every other day) going over each and every hose and the frame mounted petcock to make sure everything looks good.  i found out that a few hoses were not connected (MAYBE the vacuum hose on the carbs?! and the drain hose on the bottom of the airbox).
i finally got those damn screws off the carbs and it turns out the little missle-looking thing (attached to the float assembly by thin wire...float needle? valve? something like that) was dirty and it was kinda stuck in the round thing. i wiped them clean with my not so clean fingers and the bike started right up!
tomorrow im gonna put the airbox back on, check the routing again and put everything back together...i still have to fiddle with some things...bike is fine with choke on but once its off it dies on idle....maybe it needs an etra long time to warm up? its been sitting for 7 months.
we'll see!
Don't mind me I'm just new.

Maybe, but it may also be gummed-up jets.  (You didn't say whether you soaked 'em in carb cleaner and blew them out with air.)
