Hey Everybody,

Just wondering what kind of milage everyone gets with their GS500.  I know not all models have 20L tanks, but that's what I'm working off of.

I can get just over 400km (250 miles) of city driving if I run the reserve tank dry so that's about 20 km/L (47miles/gallon).  Heh, with gas prices here that's only 5 Canadian cents per kilometer  

I'm not sure if I'm converting properly... I don't know what kind of gallons Americans use, either 3.79L or 4.54L (Imp).

Yeah I made a typo in my first message, I was looking at the wrong numbers.  I meant to say 3.79 L/gallon or 4.54 L/Imp gallon, but I've fixed the error.

Best- 25 km/l while breaking in.  Worst- 17 km/l while trying to get the jetting right.  Average 21-23 km/l.  And I can never figure out the gallons thing either. We went metric in 1972.

I have been getting about 75 mpg, or 32 km/l, on a 2001 that I bought used this January, with 4000 miles. As far as I know, it is stock everything, and seems perfectly balanced carb-wise, runs exceptionally well.  I can run to 300 miles before reserve on the 5.3 gal. tank. To convert mpg to km/l, divide by 2.34.

Most of my riding is on rural, curvy, hilly West Virginia roads. I'm not into hard acceleration, high speed, or outrunning other stuff except to keep my distance in traffic.

On my 2002 I get between 48 & 50 miles per gallon.  It's been rejetted.  When it was stock it was getting maybe 2 mpg more.
I don't know about 75 mpg.  Must be downhill all the way.

I was getting 55-58 mpg during the first break in period while restricted to 5k rpm.  Funny thing is that the milage is the same now that I can and do go to 8k+... figure that out.
 I'm going to move to a 15t front sprocket to add a little more roll on torque and we'll see what happens to the MPG.  

Bike is stock except my mixture screws have been drilled out and adjusted rich. That probably robbs me of a few MPG, but heck it still beats the 19 I'm getting in my Blazer.

I have an '01  with about 12,000 mi on her.  I am the original owner.  I have rejetted and recently switched to a 15-T front sprocket.  On average I get 57-58 MPG.
My other bike (99 V-Star 650 Classic) gets around 53-55 MPG.
Gotta love those numbers with the gas prices nowadays!!

I'm gettin' 60-63 on a couple of tankfuls with ~10K at least once an outing and cruising ~5-6K.

Does weight make a difference?  I'm ~145lb.

on a 94 GS, with slight jetting to EURO standards, i'm getting about 48mpg... but i'm not that gentile on it either ... can't when there's only 40something hp!

As sportbilly said in the reference thread "My brain hurts"......I suppose we have the same length mile, do we? 1760 yds? unlike the Nautical mile, no no don't go there................be lucky.

1990 GS500E, 14K miles.  Got 56 MPG last tank mostly city driving.
