Hi all,

Been slaving away for 2 1/2 days in the garage instead of being out enjoying the weather...why have the weather men got it right for once?!

Something for everyone on this mod.  After one of the uk board members kindly donated his bars and top yoke to the project, I set about swapping my clip-on's for his later type bars.  All went surprisingly well until i tried to fit the bars to the top yoke....the damn pre-load adjusters were in the way, even turned down as much as possible.

So I went net searching having been confident I'd seen something on GSTwin.com which raised and moved back the bars.  Found the post I was looking for and looked up the parts....way expensive.  However somewhere on GS500e.co.uk I'd seen a post about bar raisers, so went searching for that one.  That led me to the Ebay ad for Precision Custom. One of their products was identical to the American version, except it was about 1/2 the price and more importantly over here....

Over here was Swansea...so I went down to pick some up on Saturday.  Very nice bloke owns the place, we had a great chat and he was amazed that there was such a GS following.  I'll be sending him links to GS500e.co.uk and GSTwin so he can have a browse and hopefully make a few things which we'd be interested in.

Any way, back to the mod.  I slowly returned all the switchgear back to where it was supposed to be, fitted some new heated grips to replace my standard ones and mounted the clocks where I had wanted them all along.

Other mods this weekend included removing both wheels and getting a new tyre fitted to the front.  Whilst they were off, I decided to give em a coat of paint since the white was really sticking out on the black bike.  Painted the swing-arm whilst I was at it and when finished took it for a ride.

Must say the new bars certainly put me in a more upright riding style which is what I wanted.  Curiously the bike also turns in way better now too.  Before I had to counter-steer my way through corners, but now the bike just falls into the corners....much more relaxed and makes it feel like a completely different bike.  I'll let everyone know the long distance impressions after I get to one of the uk site meets in a couple of weeks.
