Suzuki clutch plates + stronger springs - will it work?

Hi!

I'm in desperate need of a clutch replacement and I can't seem to get an aftermarket one anytime soon (at least a week). But I can get aftermarket -  stronger - clutch springs...

So if I get those springs, should they work with new Suzuki clutch plates (that I can probably get today)?

Or if I get springs from one manufacturer and plates from another - should that work?

Are the aftermarket springs made by Barnett?  If so, then you may find some good information by reading through the 4 threads that come up when you:

1. Click on the "Search" link above
2. Type in

barnett plates springs as your search keywords
3. Choose the "Search for all terms" feature

Not sure if this helps..........the SV shares the same clutch plates as the GS but I think the quantity required is different.

First question, why would you want to go through the trouble of pulling the side cover twice and wasting all that good oil and doing all that work?  When I replace my clutch I found that there was still material on the plates they were just hardened up from age and putting the new springs in would on not helped much.  If I was you I would wait to the new clutches come in and do it once.

Oh yea, the springs are great except in traffic. If you do alot of traffic riding I would not suggest the springs, your hand will thank you.

Oh, I was going to replace both plates and springs. I was just worried that springs from manufacturer A might not fit plates from manufacturer B.

But now that I have plates and springs in front of me, I don't think that's an issue at all...

We'll see - how bad is it to re-use the old springs (in case I find my new stronger springs too strong)?

In short - it works. I had to use some tricks to get the 'T' washers inside the springs...
