Handlebar and Swingarm Slider options for the GS

So lately I've been interested in mounting slider pucks to the handlbars and maybe even the swingarm. My bars are SM Type 2's, swingarm is totally stock (2002 GS). The only handlebar sliders i've found that are universal for 7/8" bars are these made by Galindo:

Comments? Will these even offer any improvement over the stock bar ends?

Now as far as swingarm slider options go...the GS swingarm doesn't have any mounting points correct? Are there any ways to get around this, or would I first have to install a different swingarm?

Drill a hole in the swingarm to install the sliders.
Common sense in not very common.
