No, I don't have stuff like that memorized. I looked it up!

I was wondering how you did that! I just thought you were a very  knowledgeable fellow with an amazing memory!  And I like the view Kerry.

Naw, my memory only took me as far as "rotten in Denmark".  (OK, I knew that it was from Hamlet, and that it was written by Shakespeare....)  Google took me the rest of the way.

Thanks!  That view is a composite of 7 photos.  My PTAssembler (Panorama Tools Assembler) demo made it fairly easy, but it has expired.  I need to do something about that.  Meanwhile, here are some of the other panoramas I made while the software still worked.  I haven't figured out how to get the exposures all the same yet, or how to use PhotoShop to even out the "panel effects".  Sigh....

Hmmm..How about for the time being putting on a tank bra that covers the whole tank? but yeah, the prices for new tanks are ridiculous.

I wonder how much it is? I can't find a price any where on that web site.

Doubt it's cheap though, plus shipping from France, blah!   :o

Kerry:  Holy smoke you must have some awesome biking roads with those hills all around!

Meighan:

Why not just apply some bondo sand/file down and paint yourself.  What have you got to lose?  It's already ugly!  I posted this paint reference before about which paints are oil/gas resistant.  There are some rattle can paints that are gas resistant.  Tremco gloss black is one of them I think.  Usually the coloured ones are not gas resistant.

There's a black neoprene tank cover which I've seen around (but can't find any links to it anymore).  It looked like a really good thing, since my tank gets really cold in winter ---brrrrr---.  It only fit the newer GS, so I didn't buy one.  But I had a thought that I could stitch-up one myself.  You could make your own Bagster-like cover out of neoprene.

EDIT:  the US distributor for Bagster is Eurobikes in Manassas, VA.  $150 for the tank cover (also a sale, $250 for tank protector and matching tank bag, "a $50 value!").

The Canadian distributor is Clary Sports, 67,route 329 JOT2C0 St Donat ( QC ).

Hmm...  My brother does marine upholstery.  Wonder if I could talk him into making tank covers...

Try to get the dents out as good as you can, you will probley have to take it to a body shop or find someone that has the tool.  The rest you could probley do yourself.  Bondo isnt that hard to work with, if you mess up with that just sand it down and start over.  Once you get the bondo sanded just paint it with a rattle can.  Then sometime down the road if you want to you can always take it to someone and have it painted to look better.

Meighan, sorry to hear the 'ebay' tank did not work out. Looks like the cheapest way to go is to bondo the tank up as suggested by sprint_9 and bra it up. Thats what I'll do until I find a decent tank. hope it goes well in your restoration work.
It is not good enough to say that we are trying our best. We must succeed in doing what is necessary.
