I want to install clip-ons on my 2004 gs500f.  I've looked on here but i've only really seen people talking about modding their gs500s, not the 2004 F model.  I've seen that people have problems with the headlight bracket.  So i'm wondering if anything is different modding the 2004?  I like woodcraft clip-ons but im not sure if they would fit, or what modding i would have to do.  I'm just not really a fan of the riding position the stock bars have.  Thanks in advance.

Most still have older model GSs, and most of the latest "F" owners seem to be new riders who haven't gone full sport boggie (yet).

But Huston, we may have a problem.

Most under-the-top-clamp clipons are at the level of where the tank meets the frame. On the "F" this is dangerously close to where the top of the fairing is.  Also the tank bulges out right there on the sides too, meaning most clipons will smack the tank at full lock.
:(
As an illustration of what I mean. here is a pic of my race bodywork with clipons vs. the stock bodywork. Notice I left a cut out for the handlebars:

This was one of the first things I checked out when I got to sit on an "F" and was rather disapointed by the lack of clearance for clipons.  When I get around to doing a copy of the F I think I will trim down the fairing so that where it "wraps" around only comes to the bottom of the upper frame instead of the middle, so there is room for clipons...

In the meantime, you could look at Srinath's bars, or any of the flat "clubman" or "superbike" bars. These are much flatter bars and approximate the position of clipons, but rest in the stock bar clamp and should have acceptable clearance.

Hope that helps.
