my targa fairing won't fit!!!

so i tried installing my targa fairing on  my gs today and it fits, kinda, but not really...if you look on the modifications link on the site and click on the targa fairing you'll see what i'm talking about...

the fairing doesnt fit right next to my signal lights, its about 1"-11/2" off...but thats fine...my only concern is the left side of the fairing is flush against my clutch...not on the moving part of the clutch, but the hard plastic area of the clutch right before the softer rubber-wrapped wire (i hope this makes sense im not exactly sure what all the specific parts are called)...i had to pull really really hard on the left mounting rod to align it with the clamps and i'm wondering if the pressure im putting on that area of the clutch is ok or would that be damaging...thanks for reading let me know if this post makes no sense its hard to describe its really simple when u look at it tho...
