Your ins. company should be willing to E-mail proof or fax you something, or the DMV should be able to check the ins. company themselves if they aren't too lazy or A**-holes. Let us know how it goes. Love those little G's and the G forum.

I insured my bike the day before it arrived from out-of-state.  When I handed over my check for the premium, the folks at the insurance office gave me an 8 1/2 x 11 printout to serve as proof of insurance until my regular insurance card came in the mail.

I used that sheet to register the bike, and I carried it on the bike until I got the card.  (Ziploc bag under the seat, along with the registration info.)

EDIT: You DO have the VIN number, right?  You'll need that to get insurance.

I've registered my bike twice in VA (turned in the plates when I went on a 6 months trip this year) and both times they just asked if the bike was insured, which it was, and that was it. Also as curnunos said, your insurance company should be willing to send some proof of insurance.
