rerouting battery cable

Hi All,

I bought a YTX12-BS Yuasa maintenance free battery from Canadian Tire. It fits in the bike sideways. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting the cables to reach the terminals?  :dunno:

Anyone have any pictures of they way they have done it?

It seems like Srinath wrote about this a LONG time ago, but that post was probably among the first few months' worth that are now GONE.

Yea It will go sideways, and thenegative line shouldcome through the bototm of battery box,and the positive would just go over and fit. The battery has to be negative down and to the front right If memory serves. No pics... cos the bikes I did them to were all not mine... Mine has the battery box extended forward...so any battery fits right side up.

Okay Thanks Srinath for the specific directions. I was able to get my battery in sideways, but the positive cable is under some strain.. I guess if my bike stops starting i will know where to check first.

Well because no one had pictures  I made some myself.

The negative cable has been moved down and towards the positive cable side.

If the pictures were, say, 800x600 they'd be PERFECT.  

QUESTION 1: Is there any problem with getting the seat to hook back under the tank in front?

Okay I will change their size tomorrow just for you Kerry..

Answer 1: i have not tried the seat yet, because I want to change my damn duel pod K&N air filter. It always comes off and is always a struggle to put on. Im pretty sure the seat will fit on though.. its about as high as the old one that was in it. I think that 3rd picture is a little deceiving.

Answer 2: Yes I kept the box, why do you ask?

I just wondered if you had tried richard's method of mounting the battery without any battery box at all.  I made an oblique reference to it earlier, but you would have had to follow a vague link and scroll down to find his post, and ... never mind, it's OK.

But I wonder if you might have to do something similar -- depending on how well your seat fits....  :dunno:

I worked out a way to keep the dual pod K&N filter to STAY on .. I  tried to stretch the rubber holes by using a wd40 can. I bought some good quality clamps that had a wider band than the k&n clamps.

Kerry the seat locked in fine, like I knew it would. Bike has GREAT cranking amps now and since I did the oil change, the gears change nice and smoothly now
