let me preface this by saying that i do this as safely as possible and very rarely...

anyway, i've noticed that if i get to a decent cruising speed (40-50) and then sit up straight and let go of the handlebar, the bike immediately starts tracking right.  it's nothing drastic, but i have to lean left to make the bike roll straight.

any ideas on why it does this? is it natural, or should i adjust something?

If I let go of the bars on the White Owl she tracks straight as an arrow. I'd double check rear wheel alignment and make sure it's lined in plane with the front. The rear alignment marks on the axle adjusters are more of a reference than anything. I know that some people think that both sides should indicate at the same point but that isn't necessarily true. Due to Mfg. tolerances the wheel can be in alignment and the two adjusters read differently. Once you find that "ref" then it's a matter of moving both adjusters the same amount whenever the chain is adjusted. Hope this helped, but then again I am the abby normal poster child. I still love the bike, the forum sometimes makes me sad.

Is there a significant "crown" to the road that you tried this on?

Have your tires worn equally on both sides?

How worn ARE your tires?

Oh, and is the air pressure "up to snuff"?

air pressure is fine
there is some wear but it appears even

i'm going to have to look for the "crown" next time, but that may be the culprit

I'm sure it's the road.  On some roads I drift left, others right.
