Okay so Sunday was an amazing day for riding in the DC area.  met up with a few riders in the area to go out west to hit the twisties.  there were about 8 or 9 of us.  I had the second smallest bike, the GS500F.  The only other small bike that was there was a FZR 400.  There were a coupel of CBRs, a pair of R6s, an SV650 and the crown jewels, two Ducatis in the mix, a multistrada, and a 749 (not sure if regular, R or S).   We discuss the pace will be moderate, there are no straight up n00bs, but a couple of us have only be riding for a few months.   Anyway, we hit this one road and the guy who was leading in the CBR decides to take off with the 749 right behind him.  I was third in line with my GS, so i decide to follow them.  We were railing! it was so much fun!  We got to a stop sign got off our bikes and waiting for the rest of the group, when another CBR pulled up and joined our group.  On our way back we took another road, and the two ducati's started to rail, again I'm third in line so i follow them.  The guy in the CBR who joined us was right behind me.  We were flying through these turns, getting our lean on! We finally stop at a school and we get off our bikes to which the guy on the CBR was like, you prove that you don't have to spend a lot of money to hang.  He was really impressed by the handling and the amount of comfort i had with my GS500, who kept up with the two ducati's and the CBR.  So i little inspiration to ya next time you feel the gs doesn't have enough power  :thumb:  :)

The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

Thats sweet. Sounds like you had a great time and really showed them what a GS can do

Happiness is like peeing in your pants. Everyone can see, but only you can feel the warmth.

Great fun!  But I think 2 months riding still means there's quite a bit of learnin' and leanin' to do in the future.  Things that take concentration can be learned quickly, but things that require automatic responses (like panic stops) can take years for you to get your brain completely out of the picture (brain = no help in panic stop!).

Here's to enjoying that "half-liter grin"!

yeah i agree, i still have a lot to learn.  Riding with more experienced people helps. I see what they do and i try to imitate all the good things  :)   But it was a fun day neverless
