starter question

When I first got my GS I only needed to push the starter switch most of the way in to have the starter engage.  Yesterday I had to not only push to the limit, but mash it hard against the limit to get the starter to spin.  It started like normal, but having to push on the starter switch that hard is real different.
Can I take the assembly apart to clean out what ever is causing the problem or do I need to replace the switch?  Or do I need to replace everything in the control?

When the need is great enough, limitations are meaningless.

I once had a small larva crawl in there to build its coccoon. No starting that way. I disassembled the whole shebang, cleaned it out and reassembled. It is tricky though. If you are all thumbs, better not attempt it, but if you know your way around assembly of small parts, no problem.

Hmmmm.  I saw some white film on the button.  I wonder what might be in there.  Guess when I get the Bandit home, I'll have to take it apart.

Thanks
