Just changed the front sprocket into a 14t. WoW! I'll never go back.  It feels much better.  I never actually redline in 6th gear trying to push the needle further up the dial, and the steeper gearing makes the bike feel "BIGGER".  I suggest everyone tries it.

Have you tried a 15t before going to a 14t? If so what are your impression on the 15t. I bet the 14t can;t be highway friendly.

SPARKPLUG1977

tried it, 14t is better.  it's plenty highway friendly.  it's just not 110mph friendly.

i got the 15 and at about 80 mph i'm at 7000 rpm

with the 14 you'll be at ~7500 but who cares about the rpm....i noticed that when i do highway riding at 8000 rpm my bike will waste 4.8L/100 km but when i do city riding it wastes 5.5L/100 km so it's not the RPM that waste the gas, it's the amount of pressure you put on the engine

I would assume that higher RPM's would put more pressure on the engine.

So for long trips, I take it that having a 14t could not be good for the engine.

well i guess for long trips i can change bakc to a 15 or 16. it's only a 15 min operation at best.

i'm going to go down on the C/S on the SV....that thing is F%&*in' boring....riding around in 3rd.....gas...brake...gas....brake...gas....   i miss shifting :(
