dead battery

After a week of not riding my battery dies, now i dont know what is going on it is a brand new battery that got completely charged and it just wont hold a charge, NE ideas?  I have one :guns: thats what I feel like doing when i go out to ride and I cant

It pretty much sounds as if your alternator isn't working or a disruption in said circuit. I had a bashed stator for awhile and had to keep charging the damn thing at home until my replacement arrived ( $150 from bike bandit). I used a multimeter and with the aid of the clymer manual was able to track down the break. Or, there could be a short somewhere thats maybe draining your batt. either way, you'll probbly need a multimeter/circuit diagram (there might be one somewhere on this site) to track down the fault.

This happened to me.  If I turn the key counterclockwise past the wheel lock, I found out the hard way that turns on the "parking lights."  After a couple days, dead bat.  You might charge it up with a charger, or jump the bike with a car battery, and see if it will hold a charge.  It might take a while to fully charge it.  If you have a voltmeter you can check to see if there is progress at all, and if it is sufficient after some charging.  Just don't get stranded by a stalled bike while you are trying to charge it by riding.  Or keep your riding to the steep hills where you can push-start it.  Hope this helps.
