I just bought a 1990 GS500E, it's in great shape there are only a couple of things I have to do to make myself very happy with it, one is lube the clutch cable as it is a bit stiff (my friend's dad gave me some amazing stuff that is graphite based and all you do is take the bottle put on a sringe tip and inject the stuff directly into the cable), the next two things on my list are change the gas not because it looks bad just because I have no idea how long it's been sitting in the tank or if it is high octane.  Then I am going to have to adjust the rear break light because I can push it down a fair ways without the light  going on (not good if I am planning on having people see me easily) and lastly I am going to make the frame and muffler look new and sexy with 'Mom's' polishing compound, it works SO well I recommend it to everyone (you can find it at wal mart). Monday I'm off to get it safetied, insured and licenced. I am extremly excited! THanks everyone for your help and suggestions in my other post.

there shouldn't be any need for high octane gas.  the manual recommends 85 octane.  buying high test is just wasting money unless the compression has been altered.

cheers,
