Floating front disc floating too much

I've been getting ticking noises at low speed from the front disc when using the front brake on my 96 GS (about 9000 miles on it). The bolts holding the brake rotor to the wheel are tight, but the rivet-like hollow pins that clamp the floating part of the rotor to the fixed part are loose, to me they look too loose: I measured about .08 inch of side-to-side movement in the floating part of the disc.

Are there ways of taking up what seems to me to be excessive flex, like bending the shims that bear against the brake rotor and one end of the hollow pins, or is the only cure a new rotor? Are the hollow pins one-piece or two-piece? Threaded or push-fit? The disc itself does not seem that worn: about 4.5mm thickness. Don't want to get a new disc unless this is the only fix. What would cause this slop?

sounds like some crazy bastard ....like me.... floated the rotor...more
i do this with a socket and a hammer...it actually allows the rotor better alignment to the caliper and tracks better if the rotor has a slight warp

not a problem....also sounds kewl when applying the brakes
want Iain's money to support my butt in kens shop

So those hollow pins are two-piece push-fits, I gather? Don't they ever come loose thro' vibration? Looks like a wierd system to me...  I'm not sure I like my brakes to make ticking noises...
