I really didn't want to hijack the tire threat on the for sale section so I decided to start something here.

Someone please tell me what changes you can make in tire sizes.  The manual says 110/70-17.  Some of the tires I like don't come in that size, but they do come in 120/70 or 110/80 or 120/80.

So... What substitutions can be made and what are the tradeoffs.  And most important, what are the penalties in handling?   :dunno:

When the need is great enough, limitations are meaningless.

it depends on what you're looking for.....stick to the stock tire size....i had a 120/60-17 radial and didn't like it...i will be going back to a 110 when i fix the front of my bike.....

also if you're changing the front tire and have a stock rear, don't buy a radial....you don't want to mix bias ply and radial tires...

I run 110/80/17 and 140/70/17 dunlops and I wouldn't trade them for anything. the taller front matches up better with the taller rear.
