battery caps

anybody got any good tips on the easiest way/tool to use for removing the battery caps to add water?

I just use a pair of pliers.  Don't squeeze real hard - just hard enough to twist the caps and ease them out of the holes.  (Unless you have threaded caps with a screwdriver slot, in which case use a flat-bladed screwdriver.)

While I'm here ...  

I use only distilled water (about $1 / gallon at the grocery store) and the bottle below to top off my battery cells:





After a while you can tell from the current level in each cell how many drops you need to put in.  (At the minimum level line?  Add about 140 drops.  Not quite halfway low? Start with 60 drops. And so on.)

The bottle stays in my toolbag, and goes on all of my longer trips.
