The tubes are 37 mm...don't know the length, but that is something we used to play around with in the old days. Can make for some interesting handling characteristics. For example I once put a set of 8 inch over stock tubes on a Triumph 650. While the thing was a bear to ride at anything under about a walking speed it was surprisingly stable at highway speeds. I know the Kawasaki Ninja 500 has 37 mm tubes but I don't know the length of them. Love the little GS and this forum.

Just because it has the same daimeter fork tube deos not mean it will fit the GS500 or any other bike with the same size fork tubes.

As far as forks go there are different lengths of the complete fork assemblies and also the issue of where the brake or brake attachments are located.  Are the fork tubes the same distance apart as far as tripe clamps are related.  Are the axle mounting points the same size so that you can mount the wheel.

Your best best if you need a new fork is o find one from the same modle bike so that you know it will fit your bike.

Do not take this wrong but I feel if you are asking what size fork will fit your bike then I feel that if you found one that might work you might have more question as to how to make it fit and so on  and these are not questions that one who wishes to transplant forks should be asking.

If you want to go with a different fork for what ever reason you should go with the complete frok assmebly which would include the wheel, forks, triple clamps, bakes, rotors, and so on so that all you need to do is possibly mess with bearings and cups and steering stops.
