Brake Swapping Questions

Hey all...lately i've been thinking about swapping the GS caliper out for a 4 pot caliper from a gsxr.  i've been searching Ebay, and looking at the microfiches on ronayers.com, and i'm pretty sure it can be done, with some machined bracketry.

has anyone done this, or does anyone know of an obvious reason for why it can't be done?

I can do stoppies both intentional and unintentional with the stock brakes, so why whould I put bigger brakes on her?

cuz the stock slider caiper in my opinion helps to warp the rotor, where a 4 piston has eqaul pressure from both sides, less chances to warp the rotor. more even braking pressure from bothsides, ive found better pad wear on opossed piston calipers. and better feedback to the lever. available replacement parts are alittle easyer to find too i think.

Blueknyt: That's exactly what I was thinking.  The stock GS brakes are fine, really, but the 4pot GSXR calipers would certainly offer some upgrade for those of us who aren't quite ready for a total front end swap.

Basically, it's a straight swap...er, except for the custom bracket you'll have to fab up.  I'm really thinking about doing this, but it's not going to be much good to anyone else unless we all go in together and get a bunch of brackets machined.

Yup, the bracket is very expensive if you let them make just one. And I think there are much better designs than the one I used on my bike........but still, it works great!! Much better than the old GS caliper.

According to Suzuki the 04-05 GS500Fs have 4 pot front calipers:

"Strong braking performance - single disc front brake with large 310mm rotor and four-piston caliper, plus single disc rear brake with two-piston caliper"

Might be easier to see if they will fit the 89-02 models to upgrade.  The 04 models aren't shown on the RonAires or BikeBandit filches yet.

now there's a thought.  do the '89 - '02 bikes have a 310mm rotor?

The front disk hasn`t changed, so the 4 piston caliper should fit. I say should because i`m not sure.
