hey guys, how are you? I finally had time to review the wiring diagrams that Kerry had posted a while ago when i had problems with starting my bike, thanx a lot for those  :)  . but now i wanted to make sure that those are for the starter system only and none of those switches or relays cross over into the ignition system. in other words, if i short the starter solenoid and the engine turns but still doesnt fire and there is no spark at the wires then its a different problem, something else that i should be looking at, right? where should i start looking?  ;)  thanx again guys...

I'll look at that link... but your question is rather hard to figure out... not the problem itself... the question ... and the whole post is hard to understand... better grammar and punctuation might be helpful...  I am one to talk ..... Mr Typo in every line... but still I cant make out a thing... and believe me I have trouble shooted ignition a lot on 3-4 different models ...

OOPS!  I neglected to answer your original post in the Kerry... thread.    Sorry about that.

For reference, here's the post with wiring diagrams and links.  Of the diagram pieces that I posted there, only the first two (battery and starter relay) come into play when you short the starter relay to make the engine turn over.  You don't even have to turn the ignition key to the ON position.  But if you DO have the ignition turned on, shorting the relay and activating the starter motor directly should still result in the bike starting and running.

This assumes that the fuel and ignition systems are functioning correctly, of course.  For example, you will probably still need to use the choke.

As for why the spark plugs aren't sparking.  Hmmmm.....  In your very first post you said
Quote from: SupSay_Z"i pulled the spark plug wire while starting it and i had no spark."
Let's make sure that everything was in place for the test:
    * The key should have been ON.

    * The Engine Kill switch should have been set to RUN.

    * You should have removed the spark plug, put the spark plug wire back on it, and held the metal part of the plug against the engine block.  (NOTE: I prefer NOT to hold the wire in my hand because I've been shocked too many times.  If the plug will touch the block while hanging by it's own weight, so much the better.)

* The battery was obviously charged and hooked up, because you got the starter motor to spin.[/list:u]Everything OK so far?
