I hope the petrolheads can help me out with this. Is it possible to mod a twin carb for a single cylinder.  I ask this because I have a gotten a donor carbs from a GSXR600 and was thinking of doing a project with my GS500. It may sound silly but has anyone done anything like it before? Any inputs welcome. TIA.

although possible, it wouldnt be a good idea. feeing double the ammount of fuel to the same cylinder will not get you any preformance gain. it's similar to using a large carb on a small motor... the end result will be too much fuel delivery and a choking motor.

to see any gain at all, keep the 1 carb per cylinder and check into some type of forced induction system.

Yamaha did that with their XT and SRX singles with a little twist - the second carburetor only kicked in at higher rpms. Also, these singles were 4valvers, so it was almost like one carb for each pair of valves (just feeding the same cylinder).

If you were to fit four carburetors...across the frame area, which if you go out and look at your bike you will see that the frame is in the way. Also, you would have to obtain obscenely small diameter carbs to even get the proper carburetion.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

Tks for the feedback.  I did some additional readup and it seems that Aprilla has offered a twin carb model in the Pegaso 650.  The cylinder came with  two intake ports and two separate intake manifold. THe BMW F650 uses the same engine as the Pegaso but was setup with a single carb. The BMW setup however produces more torque and gives much better fuel economy.
