Hi all.
We recently purchased a new gs500f for my wife Bev.
She loves it to bits. This is her first bike and although she has only ridden
300km so far, she is doing very well.

As you know, the bike comes from the factory with the huge rear mud guard, which I shortened the second day we had it. I did this while Bev was at work. That's the best way to do it. No arguments that way.

The bike we bought is blue. We both agreed that the factory black wheels
are drab and make the bike a bit dark and heavy looking.

So over the last couple of days, I've painted them silver.
Ordinary acrylic wheel silver with single pack clear over the top.

The results are amazing. It gives the whole bike a much cleaner, lighter
look.

Anyone who is half way handy with a spray gun can do this.
Here's a hint. Thin out you're lacquer with a bit of retarder thinner.
This slows down the drying so you can do both sides of the rim without
getting overspray.

Ooooooh la la   I love different colored rims on a bike.  I want to make mine blue, but I don't have a paint gun :dunno:

I would love to see pictures of this paint job and also where could I get a paint gun like yours?  Is it expensive?

'04 GS500F...Anyone from Jersey wanna ride?

Gillberg

We might be riding with a friend tommorrow who has a digital camera.
I'm a bit behind the times.

The wheel silver is just the spray can type. For the clear, you'd have to have access to an air compressor. Gravity feed guns can be purchased from around $50.

You could ask a panel shop to spray the clear on for you. The spraying is a 5 minute job and should only be a minimal charge.

I do this stuff for a living, so material costs are only about $20.
Good luck. :thumb:
