Noise from Front Brake Rotor

I am having a knoking noise that comes from my front brake rotor.  IT seems like the outer part of the rotor is moving a little and when it does it makes a knocking sound at the end of its travel.  It doesn't move much, maybe 1/8 of an inch or less.  How bad is this?

Thanks

Sam

People are more violently opposed to fur than leather because it's safer to harass rich women than motorcycle gangs.

How many miles are on the bike?  What do the brake pads look like?

Get a new rotor, shouldnt have any movement there
I never said a thing, it was only a rumour

the bike has only 7000 miles on it.   I have already ordered a new rotor (thanks Kerry for the part numbers on your site!).  I have stopped riding the bike until I get the new rotor on.  In general how dangerous was riding the bike with this problem?

Thanks

Sam

7000 miles is nothing on a street rotor. There will be some rotational movement. The clicking is typical after the bike has been moved backwards and then after the brakes are applied going forwards.
Common sense in not very common.

My '05 F has 1300 miles and has done that since it rolled out of the dealer.  Seen an identical post on SVRider and seems to be a non issue.
