have any of you ever tried installing sliders? on a gs500f??? so if/when you drop the bike the engine and fairings remain relatively safe/scratch free.  The bike would sliding on the sliders if dropped on the left side, on the right your can would support most of the bike right?

Do you mean something like this! Engine bars/Gaurds/mushrooms?? Kerry has some pix on his site, there is a lot about them on the board.

In Cricket the testicular guard, or Box, was introduced in 1874. The helmet was introduced in 1974. Is there a message??

Cal-

I'm sure that he means the type common on sportbikes that are made of derlin or nylon or similiar compounds that reduce friction in a spill to keep the bike from tumbling.  The case guards you posted are more like the crash bars on a Harley, and won't work without major cutting of the 500f's fairings.

You could try these, some cutting of the fairing would be necessary.

or these, not as strong, but will protect if you drop it, probably not for
a crash at any speed

newkid-

Someone was selling sliders in the for sale forum for the new 500F.  I'd check that out.  If it doesn't pan out, you could adapt some from another bike with some patience and know-how.  Best of luck.

The second link that I posted was his website from the FS/FT Forum.

Just understand that frame sliders are only designed to protect the frame, as it is the most expensive part of the bike to replace. Protecting the fairing from major damage is only a bonus.

I would really like to see a pic of the mounting bracket on the F for the sliders that he is selling. If it just attaches to the fairing support bracket, I would not waste my money on them. He does call them fairing protectors, but they look like they are mounted too high to really provide much protection in a drop.
Common sense in not very common.

tdan, link 2 is what im after with a bit of link 1 to it....i dont know if that makes sense

i too saw this on a r6 easyas123, looked kinda slick esp if you put one a little light into the center of it(like people do on their car tires)... so do you recommend going into a yahama shop and picking them up their? how easy was it to mount? if you could post some pics of what your bike looks like now would be greatly appreciated
