On an 01' i know they have a slightly different sized tank. Im on about 138 miles on this tank now from full. How much longer do you think till i run out and hit reserve? I have to make a 45 mile ride after work tonight (from Visalia to Fresno) should i fill up first? or should i be alright to make the ride? Thanks ahead of time.

If the tank was FULL when the trip meter read 0000.0 and you're getting good mileage you should be fine.

But if it were me I would fill up before I left.  Wait until you have filled up a couple of times and know the kind of mileage you're getting.  THEN you'll have a better idea of what you can expect from her.

Just a note Danny, I am at 185 after hitting reserve right at 150 (it's great watching people watch you flip it to reserve on the freeway while you are passing them!!)  If you stick with Chevron, you should be able to get to at least 180 or so.  Next time you are close to empty, we should just ride around with an oil container full of gasahol until you run out so we know!

That way, you can ride around IN Fresno, before coming back to Visa tomorrow.  Any word on when Sean is gonna slap that 4.11/Moser limited slip in his 'Stang?

I hit reserve on my 2002 at around 200 miles.  I keep going another 30-40 miles before I worry, unless it's Sunday morning up in the mountains where there are few gas stations.
I figure like this:
20,000 miles at 50 mpg = 400 gallons
If I fill up at 150 I fillup every 3 gallons, that is 133 times I have to fillup
each fillup 4 minutes that's 532 minutes.
If I fillup at 200 miles, every 4 gallons, that is 100 times and only 400 minutes.  That leaves an extra 2+ hours to ride.  Even if I have to push once to a gas station  I'll still be ahead of the game. :)

Dude, you get some great mileage! I have to switch to reserve at 185, but I do a lot of freeway riding at 75mph. Also, interesting perspective on the calculations on the time between fillups, etc. Good way to save some extra time.  :thumb:

I saw my all-time low, and hit reserve at 87 miles yesterday.  I put 3.4 gallons in.  Now, I burn E-85 (85% ethanol), which does not get as many mpg as gasoline, but I have gotten as good as 47 mpg with E-85 in the country.  So I blame the poor mpg on the awful traffic in my current commute:  stop and go, then stop, stop, stop, stop, stop and go... no wait, get cut-off, THEN stop some more... psych!

Rema-Where in MN are you?  Before I moved to Cali, I lived in St. Cloud for 7 or 8 years, my brain won't let me remember right now.  Minnesota drivers suck compared to CA, IMO.  Plus it's cold!!!!  There were 3-4 stations around St. Cloud that had E-85, but when I was there, it was expensive compared to even premium gas...
