Now that I can hobble around again, I am assessing the damage.  Can one side of the lower fairing be removed, or do both sides have to be removed at once?  If one side can be removed, how does the  :guns: fastener work at the bottom center?  I can't seem to remove it and I don't want to break anything else.

Thanks!

yes you can remove just one side of the lower faring.   the fastner in the bottom is removed by pushing in the center untill it clicks then you just pull it out    oh yeah it aint easy to push in either you have to put some force behind it.     If you have busted your faring go to the local marine store and get some marine-tex it works great for faring repair i have already had the misfortune of having to use it.

Thanks, Pitbull!  I'll try that.  Just priced the body parts.  Less than I thought, but I think that I'll wait a while before actually putting them on.
