Clean piston top or not?

Well, I am waiting for my valve to arrive.  In the mean time, I have the cylinder head off and the piston top is exposed.  And what dirty little bu99ers they are!  Crusted and flaky carbon deposit and all those goodies.

Should I clean them?  If I clean them, I am concern that the carbon flakes falling between the piston and wall will mess up the cylinder/rings.  Is it even worth cleaning?

Cheers,

Good to clean them while you have the head off. Just have a shop vacuum running while you scrape them to catch the crap.
Common sense in not very common.

Cool.  I'll clean them up then.  Thanks dgyver!  :thumb:
