Who wants dual headers?

Dual headers?  Most cans are at least $150 new.  Dual headers you can't get in this country period.  Call some custom exhaust places in your area and ask them how much it would cost to have dual steel(not even stainless) headers welded with prefab bends.  Like Leveller said: "Make sure you're sitting down."

still think ill try using the stocker as starting point, need another stocker can though.

what would you guys pay :dunno:

and i would gladly turn in my stock exhaust to ya for a discount center stand to

A set?  At least $200 would be pair for a dual setup.  Hell, aren't most single systems over $200?

and i mean just the canester part  not the headers.

I paid over $100 for my single slip-on kit

why not just cut the stock pipes behind the equalizer/h-pipe/crossover and go from there?  seems like that would be a lot easier.

It would be, but I am trying to make them out of stainless.

Just a quick question thats been itching in the back of my mind. Will having dual exhaust bring any negative side effects? ie: is the lower back pressure going to be a problem (both cylinders wont be dumping into one exhaust exit hence less backpressure), and there was one other but i cant think of it..oh wel, just the one question then.

Well the added weights going to be what 10 lbs at max? Not a bad deal there. My main concern is engine performance.

OK added performance ... not likely to see any added if you have a stock motor ... start doing serious motor work and the lack of interference from the pipes joining up makes for amotor that runs better and has extra ease of tunability ... atleast what I heard many years ago. However The raceing GS'es I have seen are all 2 into 1 types ... Maybe Bob B can chime in as can any others ...
Cool.

Nice stuff, plasma cut eh?  Or was that laser....looks like laser.  Did you have that done?  My only qualms are cosmetic because I am really anal about things sometimes.  The slip fit is excellent, as is the bending angles that you chose.  I like the angle the pipe comes up at but the can is rotated a few degrees inward.  I'm not sweating it for now because I'm so freaking eager to get riding and enjoy these last few days of sun.  Plus it's such a simple fix(for me) that I figure I'll save it to give me something to do on a boring weekend.  I sanded and painted my headers and they look awesome.

The bars are excellent, look great.  Nice welds, and nice powdercoating.  Is that the Cardinal 85XXX or the Dupont?  It looks like Cardinal.  Doesn't fingerprint that much.  I havn't ridden on the bars yet so I don't know how I wil like them but bars are wierd...it totally depends on your hight, weight, upper body strength etc. whether they fit you or not.  I'll let you know tomorrow.

thats ok, the chrome cover would be coming off and everything would be repainted after it survives a months worth of shakedown running.

ya thats my only consern  to, so will it shorten the life of the moter by running on less back pressurt, if it runs diffrently thats fine but if its gona slowly kill it than i'd rather not.

My welder finds these ... he said they are end caps off somehting ... like pipe to be capped off ... he also has 2 inch round and 1 inch and other odd sized stuff he gets from somewhere ... Heck I have seen him make railings for people's houses out of plate that was the reject from whatever they cut these things out of ... He also made the floor pan for a dune buggy with that and laid thin diamond plate aluminum on top and bolted it ... strong and really light ... I wanted to have that machine make the end plate pieces for the next batch of case savers ... doubt if I can make the few pieces I need ... Numbers I tells ya ... have a 100 and they cost a fortune, have a 100,000 and they cost nothing ...
Rotate inward ... you checking it with the snout or the sleeve ... that sticker can be removed easy and re positioned ... you might be able to turn the whole thing up... Oh wait... you got rear sets ... Oy... that's one limitation ... you cant turn it cos the pipe will hit the foot peg ...
No idea what powdercoating it is ... I should have sent you the 4 weld ones ... If you liked your 4 weld types the ones I made would have worked fine ... If you are between 5ft 4 and 6 ft 1 I guess the bars will be right ... maybe just a guess ... cos I am 5ft 10 ...they work perfect for me ... You might be long armed... hence want it far forward so the stock setup is just stoopid then... one thing though ... the angle of your wrists ... that 10 degree downward ...just about perfect ... Ride around and let me know.
Cool.

Why would lack of back pressure kill it??? Mine has 46K and 26K has been with a wide open pipe ... dont see any signs of it dying ... have it jetted right and pipe will make it last longer ... or fine the right jetting will.
The only concern may be that cold air might enter the open pipe end faster and cool the valves off too quick and they might warp... I used to stuff a rag right after each ride into the pipe ... till I forgot a few times and it made no diff ...
Cool.

Thanks for addressing issues srinath. I wasnt worried about the engine dying, just that it might not run correctly requiring more modding. Thanks!

Well dont think its going to need more modding ... the pipe isn't going to flow more than the 2 into 1 ... even stock with Wide open slip on ... cos the limitation to flow is really in the head and valves and ports ... the headers can flow 2-3 times what the head can flow.
Cool.
