V rod ... OK wait till he has to do a valve adjustment ... motir has to come out for that, $2500 at harley dealer .... there was this one that my neighbor was looking at ... the guy wanted 5K for it ... and it was misfiring and running like crap, he said he had done valve adjustments 3 times in under 8K and it needs it again ... and he was going to sell it ... I told him I can slice his frame open and make a removaeble section like my vulcan and he can do them himself...

I've asked a couple guys with V Rods on other boards about the valve adjustment and they said it was no more labor than a standard valve adjustment, like $250 or something. :dunno:

Compared to my 04 DL-1000 V-Strom with three  hard saddlebags, it is tiny. My 17 year old daughter and I went on a weekend trip and swapped bikes back and forth, you can really tell the difference!  NO VIBRATION ON THE STROM!!!!!!  We both enjoy both the Suzuki's very much

What ... the motor has to come out is what the salesman told me and the seller too ... it does look super tight in there ... and BTW harley dealers charge 250 for an oil change...  :lol: ...

Tiny??? Try a Buell Blast... or a GZ250!!! I agree with the comment about being able to pick the bike up. More important is the ability to save a drop!!! after 10,000miles I may be ready for one of the "bigger" bikes

I just saw a Highway cop trying to pick up his bike (big Kawa I think). I think it tipped on a soft shoulder. I guess I should have stopped to help him :dunno:

Those BMW sport bikes are nice (can be on the pricey side though). I was actually looking at purchasing a BMW R1100 S (non-ABS, the Mandarin/Titan Gray) for my next bike; but I think I'm going to look into an SV650s then move up to the BMW in couple years.

V rod motor is supposed to be dropped out to do a valve adjustment... that is what the manual for it says ...
However some hacks have discovered, you can remove all the crap that is fitted on top of the motor and undo the front 2 or 3 mounts (not specific) and rotate the motor a bit and get in the back cylinder, move it back up and do the front ... in the drop the motor situation evidently you dont remove some of the stuff on the motor ... OR ...are you still supposed to ... not a clue ... and I'd like to keep it that way ... I buy a V rod and the next item I am buying is a sawzall .... of course the sawzall probably will cost more than the V rod

BMWs have typically been Big Bikes For Big Folk.  I haven't a prayer of reaching the ground on most of their models.  I bought my GS500 from a BMW dealership, actually, and it was the only dang thing on the floor I fit.  Some of their models, like the LT K bikes, put a Goldwing to shame!
But they're starting to clue in on the fact that short/light people like beemers, too.  I picked up a low seat/low frame F650GS two days ago (I missed having two bikes).

Wasn't that the one you swapped for the GS ... That savage was a nice one ... should have got it back ... always a soft corner for it ... I sold mine under some very unfortunate circumstances ...

I swapped the GS for an SVS, then got the F650GS for commuting.  The buyback on the Savage was ridiculously high - almost $2K.  I'm sure I can find a decent used one that isn't as banged up for that much.  But I agree, I have a soft spot for that Savage - love the engine character.  If I find a decent cheap one, I'll snag it.
