ditto what Crash said:  the video was exceptionally helpfull.  I felt a bond with our riend from Utah when I "clicked" the cam follower about 50 times before I got the valve tool seated right.

My biggest problem was getting the cam lobes into the correct position by turning the wheel.  at a certain point just before they got to where I wanted (for the exhaust valves) they would kind of "fall" over another 10-20 degrees.  Took some subtile tapping on the back wheel to nudge them into the right place w/o going past.

speaking of cam lobes.  i could've sworn that there was a discussion somewhere about the cam lobe positions in the video being opposite to what clymer says.  am i daydreaming?

Nope, you're right.  Apparently the "safest" position is to have the lobe pointing straight up rather than directly away from the shim.

Just one of the many tweaks I'll include if I ever remake the video from scratch.

But I have a hard time understanding how the position described in the video could "result in ... possible engine damage" :?

quick question.

of the 6 bolts holding the head cover, the 4 big ones have o-rings.  are the 2 smaller/longer ones supposed to have o-rings?  because mine don't =/

Sounds like you already figured it out, but NO.

btw, i wanted to post a word of (dumbass) wisdom.

if you follow Kerry's advice and stuff a rag into the hole in the middle of the case, be very careful when rotating the engine, as the rag may become caught in the chain/sproket, or under a cam =/

Yep, Kerry the West Coast Kit has two discs in it, one is a dvd with your video on it, one is a CD-R with the WMV file on it...if you recall I was concerned with skipping, that was on the DVD....some helpful person converted it.
(By the way, my bike didn't have any o-rings on it...but it's never leaked, so I left well enough alone)

Kerry - don't send a new CD.  I am sending the CD out overnight to Weaselnoze.  It was in my laptp and I forgot to slip it into the box when I mailed him the kit.  No reason for you to spend any money sending one out when it was my mistake.

weaselnoze, you'll have it tomorrow.
