I'd say that you just put yourself on the East Coast kit list, behind weaselnoze. :)

SHIMS: The tricky part is that you won't know what size(s) you need until you measure the clearances and, for each out-of-spec valve, the thickness of the current shim.

Once you know what you need (don't forget about swapping shims from one valve to another if you can!) you have several options:
    * Use shim(s) included in the toolkit.  (By now, the ones in there tend to be too thick, especially for high-mileage bikes. :x )

    * Order them from your local dealer ( :nono: )  See the Suzuki part numbers
HERE.

* Order them from one of the big online dealers.  Look in the CAMSHAFT - VALVE section for any model year.  These dealers except BikeBandit use genuine Suzuki part numbers.  (MrCycles was the cheapest the last time I checked.)

* Order them from CYCLE-RE-CYCLE for the unbeatable price of $4.95 each, assuming you don't need one thinner than 2.30mm. :thumb: [/list:u]

PS - Pandy, I believe you are in line after me for the West Coast kit?  PM me your address and I will try to send it out in the next day or two.

what symptoms would tou have with a bike that needs its valves adjusted?

Sometimes it runs like crap, is hard to start etc.  Other times it runs just fine until it burns a valve and you have major damage.  They are easy to check - all you need is feeler gauges and a few wrenches.  They can be a bit of a pain to adjust the first time - but the directions in the Chilton manual are good and the Motion Pro tool to depress the bucket is cheap through J C Whitney. Shims (once you know what sizes you need) are only a couple bucks each at the dealer.

pandy, Kerry says he'll do it tomorrow (29th).

Ummm    and now Kerry's wondering if you could wait for one more day.

I want to redo the packaging so its more compact, but still sturdy.  I'll "pay you back" by tossing in an electronic caliper to replace the quirky dual-pointer English/Metric mechanical one.

Deal?

No worries! I appreciate it whenever I get it!!
