Just wanted to share the news that was past on from MR_PINK. . .thanks so much dude!

2004 GS500 and GS500F now has a jet kit available from Dynojet

here's the link:

Really really stupid question from me, a newbie

but what exaclty does the jet kit do and what's involved in the installation?
is there anything important that i need to know before performing this upgrade?

all i can tell is that there is a fairly substantial increase in power from this graph that was kindly provided by dynojet:

any help would be abso-freakin-lutely AWESOME!
(because i'm going to be placing my order for one soon)

A jet kit uses jets with a larger internal diameter oriface to increase the amount of fuel available to the motor. A higher flowing air filter and exhaust will optimize the results. Easy to install. There are some write-ups in the FAQ forum.

That graph is odd....it is comparing HP to Speed. Usually it is HP to RPM.
Common sense in not very common.

dgyver:  thanks for the quick response. . .that's really helpful. . .i have a carbon fiber exhaust (not sure if that's considered a high flow exhaust). . .and Frost told me that his shop ordered him a k and n filter for his bike (same bike as mine, i think). . .does it matter if i install the air filter after i install the jet kit? (thanks in advance)

frost:  not sure why not. . .i just followed the link. . .whoa, i just read your profile and you're from toronto?  where at?  i'm in scarborough

With the GS, most any aftermarket exhaust is going to flow more than the stock can. You should be fine with it. I am guessing that you have the stock header with an aftermarket slip-on can.

Installing the jet kit before the air filter is not a real problem. You may run a little rich until the K&N is installed.

I had a DJ-3150 put in by Suzuki in the spring of this year into my 2002.
I don't see it listed on their site.
The thing is great.  Better low end.  Fast warmup. No drop in gas mileage.
It's a stage one so it's made to run with the stock air filter.

i always hear people talk about having their bike running lean or running rich.  What does that mean?

MR_PINK

lean means the bike isn't getting enough fuel, rich is the motor is running with too much fuel.  That is pretty much the easiest way to explain without getting technical

Does anyone have the parts canada number on the jet kit....i contacted dynojet on this and they said it was available through them. I tried ordering it through a local parts counter...of course they were of no help because its new and not in their catalogue and apparently dont feel like contacting parts canada for me :x . Anyways i emailed parts canada this weekend to see if its available here or not. Does anyone know?

OH OH, I DO!

Actually. . .what i did was even more reasearch

after finding the part number directly from Dynojet:
Jet Kits - Suzuki 2004 GS500F
Stage 1 3156

i went and researched ALL shops/stores/etc. that are affliated with Dynojet to find the best price on shipping and the actual unit

my findings were:
http://www.tnt-actionsports.com/catalog_product_detail.asp?CatalogCode=1291&LevelCode=6513&PartHeaderNumber=111091&CatalogTypeCode=&ProductCategoryCode=

sells it for very cheap and charged me only $14.10 USD for shipping by USPS and only $69 USD for the actual unit

i was really impressed with Steve (the rep who helped me).  Great guy and actually changed my shipping method from UPS to USPS, as i requested.

Great service, great price, can't beat it

and i live in toronto too, so i think we'd get charged the same for shipping.  Actually, if you end up calling them or (as they did) they call you, tell them that I (Joel) sent you and they might hook you up with a discount.  Hey, it's worth a shot.  Referrals are always good
