Rejetting, #4 washers, hafta be SS?

Lowe's didn't have #4s in stainless, neither did Home Depot, neither did McLendons, or all of the other places I tried.  Can I get away with aluminum for a while?  How much slop can there be?  What about a #6?

Aluminum, brass, copper,plastic ...same thing... why stainless ... its not doing anything other than act as spacer. I also was using #2's... just use 2 ... and the finer granularity of control is better ...

I'm 5 minutes from a nut and bolt store(closed until the morning) that I am sure would have #4 washers in every kind of material under the sun, but I am rejetting right now and want to get this done tonite so I can ride tomorrow morning.

ok so it doesn't matter how much side to side play?  The ones I have are aluminum and are 3/8" wide with a 1/8" hole and are 1/16" thick...pretty close to 1mm.  That's all I need to space them for my setup, right srinath?  Your pipe, #150s and pods?

The effers at the shop gave me the wrong type of pilots.  Gonna have to change them out at a later date.

- Bob Broussard modifying ignition advancers essentially for free (fee of $5 to cover S&H)
- Kerry sending me his valve clearance kit to borrow, including a $33 tool that I did not have to buy
- I just offered pixlemonkey some parts I didn't need at no cost to him!!
(I'm sure there are others I'm leaving out, so please forgive me)

Now, I can understand if you have something of real value you want to be compensated, especially if it is a hard to find part. Sure, but some of the things I read make me shake my head. Where's the luv, people? It makes me feel good inside to help others and not expect anything in return. Try it sometime. You might just like it.

Um, so I guess my only question is whether I shim 1mm or 2mm for pods and pipe, cuz I only have a 1mm thick washer.  The #150 mains are in.

Oh well goat clicked the buy button too many times, buying washers and he ended up with 1000 or some such number ... Lots of stuff people do free man ... but neccesarily making them do everyhting is not right ... I have a few sets of carbs I cannibalise and give parts free to people, but that doesn't mean I use material I bought for making handlebars and do free things ... like remanants I have the from making bars ... I make 89 clip on tubes and sell them... nothing wrong in recovering some costs ... carb parts were free cos I had carbs I piced up for jared many years ago and I had to raid 3 broken sets of carbs for making 1 decent one ... the wrecking yard recognised the fact and sold me carbs at $10 each, and I basically charged Jared for it ... so I had free carbs whihc were missing lots of parts ... so people got them free ... including someone who got the whole skeleton - carb bodies no jets floats slides nothign    ... his skeleton was screwed up ... sorta like I get it free and it goes free to others ...

I'm trying to find a shop that has both the float needle and the pilots, pick up a rear sprocket and chain at the same time.  

BTW, what is the difference between an X ring chain and an O ring chain?  The X ring chain is $110 and the O ring is 80, and last night while I was looking for the needle, I took off my front sprocket cover and there were dozens of broken O rings packed in there with some thick greasy goop.  Sprockets look fine but I guess I should replace both sprockets and chain at the same time.  Already bought the front 15 tooth.

Dude, it's so simple.  Can you operate a screwdriver?  Serious, I've done it once and now I can do it in under 20 minutes.  JUST DON"T LOSE ANY PARTS!!!  They are tiny, especially the O rings.  And a new needle and seat will cost you $30.

I started offering to send people washers becuase I couldn't find any locally and ended up buying about 200 online. If someone else is in the same situation, why should they have to buy that many, too? Anyways, if I was trying to make money off selling washers, I would be trying a whole lot harder to sell the damn things.

I suppose that $.50 is closer to what it costs me for a stamp and evelope, but $1 is a nice, round number and I really hadn't thought that hard about it. Most people can find them locally for less than the cost of a stamp. Hell, if you send me a stamp and an envelope, I'll send them for free but I figure that most people don't want to wait that long. I wouldn't.
