Dealer rant!

SUXOR!

Ordered my Avon AV45/46 7 weeks ago and the front 110/70-17 is still not in yet.  Everyweek I called, it's few more days.  Until I had to go in and the guy went "OK, I'll get it from somewhere else," made a call, told me he found a place in stock and it'll be in in 2-3 days.  That was 2+ weeks ago!  It seems that the dealer won't do anything until I call and ask.  I figured if I bought it from them, they would at least try a little harder than to say "not in yet, call next week" week after week!

Bah!  So I contacted Avon directly, and was told that at least three distributors (Lemans/Parts Unlimited, Tucker/Rocky, and Global Motorsport) have at least 9 total in stock total at the end of October (I ordered in end of September).  I confronted the dealer with that info and all I got was a shrug and said that those distributors have none in stock, and that Avon must be mistaken or lying.  And then the dealer asked me to ask Avon why they aren't shipping!  WTF?  Maybe I should pay the dealer to hire me to work for them.  :x   Montgomery Motors/Cycle Sports Hawaii has gotten my last cent for certain! :guns:

Rant over.  Now for the proactive part: (1) Anyone knows if I can call up the distributor directly to check stock and arrange to have the tire shipped to my we-won't-lift-a-finger dealer? (2) Anyone with any recommendation of any decent cycle shop in Honolulu?

Cheers,
e.

Then go here
and here

I know.  I was going that route in the beginning, but it was not easy for me mainly because I am in Hawaii.  Usually the online retailers won't ship to Hawaii (and Alaska) or the shipping is rediculously expensive ($50-90 per set).  And I went around looking for tire iron, boy-oh-boy, I cannot believe that it was so hard to find!  The automotive stores here think that tire iron are those things you take out the car lug nuts with.    I actually started shaping a steel bar on my own to make my own tire iron when I perchance found that the dealer is an Avon distributor.  The price is more but they do all the mounting for free and I was already swamped with other work, so I thought, why not?

I guess now I know why not.  :guns:

P.S.  I can't buy those tire changers from Harbor Freight--the shipping would kill me and I have no room in my tiny 1-bed room apartment to keep them.  I have expended no small amount of effort in preparation to do my own tire change, including (and not limited to!) dragging a discarded wheel from the roadside following the recommendation here.
