Anybody installed GSXR-600 Forks on their GS?

I've got a set from an 03 that I'm putting on my race bike.  Wondering what's the easiest way to make the bearings work.  The GX'r has plain ball bearing races and the steering stem is a little bigger.  I'd like to use the GX'r stem, so I'll probably have to go with different races.
Any ideas are welcome.

Instead of making a new stem, just use the GS stem.
Press the gsxr stem out of the bottom of the triple clamp.
Do the same for the gs stem.
You'll need to make a spacer for the bottom of the gs stem, since it will be smaller than the hole in the triple clamp. You'll also need a spacer for the top of the stem as well.
I just mounted a 2004 gsxr 1000 frontend in a frame. The bottom of the gs stem fit the triple clamp without any mods. A new top spacer is all I needed.

I was thinking that would be an easy fall back if I can't find new tapered roller bearings that would fit the GSXR stem.  Thanks.

Sorry guys, been MIA for a month or so...too many things happening over here. When I did my install I had to make a new stem because my GS stem was welded in and wouldn't come out in one piece. If you have access to a macninist it wouldn't be a bad idea to go that route because it eliminated a lot of potential headaches. Bob Broussard is way more experienced in such matters however, so I'm sure his method is just as effective!!

I did a bunch of research in regard to using the gixxer stem and it won't work. The stem is so thick that I couldn't find bearings that fit the GS neck and accomodate the thick gixxer stem - there isn't enough space left for the bearing race. Swapping the bearings seems like the logical solution...but unfortunately it's not that simple! Hope that helps. Good luck.
