turn the bars all the way to the left

Have you tried moving them slightly while putting gentle pressure on the key?  My bars locked when they were 99.9% of the way to left lock.

Are you pushing DOWN on the key as you to turn it?  It won't go past the OFF position unless you do.

Yep.. push down on the key while turning it. My bars don't need to be all the way to the left, I have to have them off the sterring stops for it to lock.

Be sure not to turn the key all the way to "P" and leave it overnight...

is your problem getting the key to turn?  if so, try squirting a little wd40 in the key hole.  works good on the fuel cap lock too.....

It's okay. I can't lock mine when it's full left either...since my crash...but, it will lock when the bars are full right, now.

p.s.: which is awfully convenient, to lock my bars while filling at the gas station.
