Hello all and happy holidays.
I would like to know if anyone knows the differences between the 2004 and 2005 models of the GS500F.

All Ihave seen about the 2005 are the pictures of the new paint jobs and the tech brief on Suzuki's web page.

i sat on the 2005 F at the motorcycle show in Toronto
and noticed that the riding position is a little lower

other than that
specs haven't changed
instruments haven't changed

not much of a diff to me
(thank god cause i have a 2004 and would be
really pissed if they changed a lot between years!)

cheers,

People who think that money is there biggest problem,
need to realize that there are some big frikin problems out there.

Yea, I just got a 2004 model in May and would be a bit upset if they made some drastic improvement (like digital speed/tach).

I really like my GS though - after putting close to 2K miles I am satisfied with this bike.  I think eventually I might mod it but for now, its more then enough power for me.

Not to mention - I get alot of people who comment on how cool and awesome the bike looks.

Funny story:
One day my buddy and I were going from our office (we are graduate students) to a resturuant for lunch.  This happened to be on a football game day (80+ thousand fans come to watch our team).  Well we had to stop at a cross walk while a bunch of people crossed the road.   So this fan turns and looks at me and says "awesome bike man, awesome bike".  So I give him a thumbs up and then we drive away.

Well when my buddy and I get to the resturuant, he annouses his disproval of what happened.  You see, he has a gray Honda 599 (really nice bike and fast too) compared to my Yellow/black GSF.  I got the props and he couldn't understand why he didn't get any.

Anyways, have a good one

It's gotta be the yellow...

Most people who don't know bikes just look at the appearance and if it looks fast, well it must be. I've always loved motorcycles, but before I started motorcycling I didn't have a clue as to whether a blue GS500F was any different than a Gixxer1000 except maybe the riding position looked different. Heck I didn't even notice the tire width... (I do now though!!)

Very good point. To the average Joe the F's do look alot like a gixxer.

I think that the overall height of the 05 is a few inches lower than the 04.  As others have said, there weren't any major changes.

In the Nov. Cycle World, a reviewer says that he got a thumbs-up from a dude on a gixxer 1000.  He writes:

"Kawasaki Ninja 500R: $300 less than last year.

Suzuki GS500F: $600 more than before, but with a full fairing.

Duping cool Gixxer dudes:  Priceless."
