i just cleaned a heap of dirt out of my carb and when i re-instlled it my bike idles very very high, i check all my cables, they are at the minimum amount of tension applicable, the idle adjustemt screw only makes it go higher if i turn it.
what could be the problem, could it be something with the float height, if so i don't know which direction to adjust it.
:dunno: Hellllpppp!!!!!!!!
temp here for the weekend is 83 in alabama help me enjoy it :)

In other words, you have minimal cable tension with the adjustment screw in its current position.  What happens when you turn the adjustment screw in the other direction?  If the idle doesn't change then check the tension again.

Getting the throttle cable adjusted correctly when you put the carbs back on the bike is fairly tricky.  You want the "stop" on the carbs to just tap the tip of the adjustment screw when the throttle grip is fully released.

It's easiest to see what's happening with the tank off, but hopefully you have some adjustment left at the throttle grip end of the cable.

Floats will affect more than just idle ... if they are off you'd be affected at 1/4 throttle up real bad ... if lean you'd start sounding dry and like its falling on its face ... if rich it will foul plugs, drown out in gas and miss, sneeze and run like crap, be super soft on power ... whole lot of problems ... not just high idle ... you need check what kerry said as the first stop ... see where your idle screw is and back it off ... idle high all the time is not exactly a problem ... set the idle screw ... ifdle high when hot and low when cold = problem.
Cool.
