The Suzuki decal has a clear coat over top of it. Odd that it has started to come off so early.
Common sense in not very common.

I'd leave it alone unless you plan on painting the whole tank..

P.S. What exactly does 'chocks away' mean? ;)

Spitfire

When they started up the fighters in the second world war, the pilot shouted to the ground crew, 'chocks away' and the blocks that were wedged under the wheels were pulled away and off they went. It's an old fashioned, sort of British thing to say when you start off. You hear things in Europe that North Americans don't know any country outside the US and Canada, is this true? I don't believe it myself. Although I did hear one of your countrymen saying on the telly that he'd recently been to 'Paris, England'...?

Canada?  Where's that?  (Just kidding...)

I've noticed an unfortunate tendency for city founders to reuse famous place names or otherwise not get creative with naming locations.  Last time I checked, there were some 39 states that had a place called Midland.  What the US needs are more places with names like "Moose Jaw".  (A great Canadian city, by the way -- but what would be the proper reference for a resident -- Moose Jawer, Moose Jawite?)

IMHO, everybody should show a bit of the British flair for the use of the Queen's English.  "Pip, Pip, and all that sort of rot..."   :)

Thanks - I don't hear many English sayings around here...but as for your question, there are morons all over the world who just don't care about anything but their own country. :dunno:

The drummer in my husband's band is from England and he still calls sub sandwiches "blimpies". :)

Spitfire, my '00 GS is doing the same kind of mellanoma on the emblem as well as the rear quarter panels where my legs come into contact.

I was, for a while, tossing the idea around of just repainting the entire bike, but have now decided to just let it be. What I did to help speed the peeling issue, was grab a very sharp straight blade, a steady hand, and shave away the clear coat where ever I could. The emblem underneath is a flat black, but it doesn't really matter in the great scheme of things.

hey i had the same problem with my stickers, besides they were ugly as hell. as mentioned by another i just took some time with a razor and carefully...very carefully pulled away all of my decals. then i went over it with goo-gone. then i cleaned her up and waxed her.you can't even tell there was any stickers ever there. then you can do what i did and make custom decals. its pretty easy. just buy a blank decal sheet off of e-bay. i think i got like 4 feet for about 10 bucks. then go on the net and find a font you like. there are thousands so i'm sure you'll find something nice. design what you like, flip it around so it's written backwards. then print it on the back of the decal sheet so when you cut it, the design will be forward on the other side. sounds like a lot of work but trust me its worth it, cause then you will have decals like no other.
